Vehicles with engines 111.948 and 601.970
Disassembly
1. Disassemble the gearbox.
2. Remove thrust washer 1, reverse gear 2 and needle bearing 3 (see fig.6.38).

3. Remove sliding sleeve 4.
4. Remove locking ring 5.
5. Press out the synchronizer housing 6 of the reverse gear shaft 7.
Assembly
6. Assembly is made in the reverse order of removal. Groove (arrow) should point forward towards reverse gear 2.
Vehicles with engine 611.980
Disassembly
7. Disassemble the gearbox.
8. Remove roller bearing 2 from shaft 8 (see fig.6.39). Remove bolt 1 (see fig.6.40). Remove the roller bearing 2 from the shaft using a puller 3 (see fig.6.41).

9. Remove thrust pad 3.
10. Remove the reverse gear 4 together with the needle bearing 5.
11. Remove the synchronizer sleeve 6. Groove (arrow) should point forward towards the reverse gear 4.
12. Press the synchronizer body 7 off the shaft 8.
Assembly
13. Assembly is made in the reverse order of removal. Install roller bearing 2 using bush 4 (see fig.6.42). Replace the bolt and screw it onto the shaft.
