Replacing the side seals of the front differential | Replacing the side seals of the front differential |
1. Illustrative material for replacing the side seals of the front differential is presented in the illustrations, which include all references in the text.
2. Remove the front wheels.
3. Drain the oil from the front differential.
4. Using a puller, press the ball joint out of the upper transverse arm of the front suspension.
5. Having levered, release the drive shaft from the differential by turning the steering knuckle assembly outward - try not to damage the shield.
6. Using a pry bar, remove the oil seal (14a) from its seat in the differential housing and using a suitable mandrel (094) put a new one in its place, after lubricating its sponges with universal hypoid oil SAE 85 W-90.
7. Further reassembly is done in the reverse order of dismantling the components - do not forget to replace the retaining ring of the drive shaft in the differential, finally check the differential for signs of leaks.
