Petrol models
Checking engine oil pressure on petrol models
1. Pulling up vertically, remove the engine trim panels/air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the fan assembly (8) cooling system and its casing (9).
3. Remove the screw plug from the timing cover (4) and remove it together with the sealing washer (5).
Note. The sealing washer must be replaced without fail.
4. With the help of the timing drive planted in the cover on the sealing washer (3) double-sided male connector (2) connect a pressure gauge equipped with a connecting hose to the engine (1) for measuring oil pressure.
5. Check engine oil level, correct if necessary (see chapter Ongoing care and maintenance).
6. Remove the feeler gauge from the guide tube (7) measure the engine oil level and replace it with a remote thermometer (6).
7. Start the engine, warm it up to normal operating temperature (80°C), then read the pressure gauge readings at various crankshaft speeds. Compare measurement results with requirements Specifications.
Note. When you depress the gas pedal, the pressure should increase instantly.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Diesel models (M612)
Checking engine oil pressure on diesel models (M612)
1. Remove the top trim panels from the cylinder head cover.
2. Proceed further in accordance with the instructions given in paragraphs 4 to 8 (for petrol models).
Note. Readings are taken at an operating oil temperature of 90°C. At idle, the oil pressure should not fall below 0.3 atm (bar); when depressing the gas pedal, the reading should instantly increase, reaching a value of at least 3 atm (bar) at 3000 rpm.
