Engine Block Heater Installation Details (models 463.322/323, code HP1)

1. On models with code ET2, activate the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system (see Section Activation / deactivation of the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
4. Remove the crankcase protection.
5. Turning the cover of the cooling system to the first stop, release the residual pressure in the cooling path.
6. Empty the cooling system (see chapter Ongoing care and maintenance).
7. Remove additional heater (see Section Removal and installation of circulation pump for auxiliary heater STH (with appropriate equipment)).
8. Remove the air distributor (see chapter Power supply and exhaust systems).
9. Release the connector (1) from a spring clip (2), then remove the cover (3).
10. In order to release the wiring harness (4) heater release bandage (5) and remove the clamp (6) from support bracket (7), - the bandage must be replaced without fail.
11. Remove heater assembly (8), - prepare a replacement sealing ring.
12. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
13. If necessary, add fresh fluid to the power steering reservoir and bleed the hydraulic path of the power steering.
14. Remove air from the cooling system path (see chapter Ongoing care and maintenance) and check the relevant components for signs of leak development.
15. On models with code ET2, deactivate the service mode of the TELE AID system (see Section Activation / deactivation of the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system).
16. In conclusion, clear the memory of the processor of the on-board self-diagnosis system (see chapter Engine Electrical Systems).
