Status check
1. Road film builds up on the wiper blades over time, reducing their effectiveness, so the wiper blades should be washed regularly in a mild cleaning solution.
2. Wiper blade assemblies should be inspected regularly. If the inspection reveals the presence of hardening or cracks in the rubber of the brushes, replace the brushes. If nothing out of the ordinary is found on inspection, wet the windshield, turn on the wipers, let them run for a while, and turn them off. Uneven brush marks on the glass or streaks on clean glass indicate that the brushes should be replaced.
3. If the brushes do not clean the windscreen well enough, then the following reasons for this are possible:
- Wax particles got on the windshield while the car was being washed. These particles can be removed by adding a detergent to the washer fluid that has the property of dissolving wax;
- Filling the glass cleaner reservoir with wax-dissolving properties can significantly improve the performance of the windshield wipers;
- Grease-dissolving cleaners cannot completely clean glass.
4. Damaged brushes can also cause poor cleaning of windows, the brushes should be replaced.
5. During the operation of the wiper mechanism, the fixing nuts may loosen, so they should be checked and, if necessary, tightened each time the brushes are checked (refer to chapters Body and Onboard electrical equipment for more information on the operation of the wiper mechanism).
