Petrol models
Preparation for checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump (petrol models)
1 - Air intake; 2 - Expansion hose of the pressure path; 7 - Power Steering Reservoir
Checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump (petrol models)
2 - Expansion hose of the pressure path; 3 - Transition line; 4 - Connecting fitting; 5 - Manometer; 6 - Stop valve
1. Remove the air intake (1).
2. Pump out the fluid from the power steering reservoir (7).
3. Disconnect the expansion hose from the steering pump (2), - be prepared to collect the spilled liquid and connect an adapter line instead (3).
4. To expansion hose (2) connect fitting (4).
5. Connect to transfer line (3) manometer (5).
6. Between pressure gauge (5) and connecting fitting (4) turn on shutoff valve (6).
7. Make sure that connected components do not come into contact with moving components in the engine compartment. Check the tightness of the fittings.
8. Fill into the steering pump reservoir (7) required amount (to normal level) hydraulic fluid.
9. Start the engine and raise its speed to approximately 1000 per minute.
10. Close the stop valve (6) and read the pressure gauge.
Attention! Try to carry out the necessary procedures as soon as possible to avoid overheating of the liquid temperature!
11. Stop the engine, pump out the liquid from the tank (7) and disconnect the measuring equipment.
12. Restore the original connection of all lines, correct the fluid level in the power steering reservoir (see chapter Ongoing care and maintenance), then bleed the hydraulic circuit by turning the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
13. Check the fittings for signs of leaks, tighten the nuts if necessary.
14. Replace the air intake (1).
Diesel models
Checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump (diesel models with M612 engine)
7 - Power Steering Reservoir; 8 - Expansion hose of the pressure path; 9 - Connecting fitting; 10 - Transition line; 11 - Manometer; 12 - Stop valve
Preparation for checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump on diesel models with the M628 engine (1 of 2)
1 - Air cleaner; 2 - Cover; 3, 4 - Screws
Preparation for checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump on diesel models with the M628 engine (2 of 2)
6 - Screw; 7 - Power Steering Reservoir; 8 - Expansion hose of the pressure path
Checking the pressure characteristic of the steering pump (diesel models with M628 engine)
7 - Power Steering Reservoir; 8 - Expansion hose of the pressure path; 10 - Transition line; 11 - Manometer; 12 - Stop valve
1. Remove the cylinder head cover trim panel/air cleaner.
2. Connect the measuring equipment, - the procedure for performing the test is similar to that described above for gasoline models.
