The oil pressure control lamp lights up when there is a lack of oil, when engine components and parts receive little lubrication. This happens if you are going through a corner at high speed with a low oil level. The oil pump draws in air instead of oil. The oil pressure drops sharply, which can cause serious damage to the bearings.
Oil pressure warning light on
If the oil pressure indicator flashes at idle after fast driving on a highway or mountain road, this is a signal that the oil pressure has dropped due to too high a temperature and, as a result, too low an oil viscosity. This is not a problem if the light goes out when the gas is added.
If the oil pressure warning light stays on:
1. Stop immediately and turn off the engine.
2. Check the oil level.
3. If the oil is low, add it. Check if the control lamp is on again.
4. Have the vehicle towed to a workshop.
