Removing the gasket from the drive plate
Removing the Drive Plate on Automatic Transmission Models
Measuring Drive Plate Bolt Length
O-ring for exhaust camshaft on models with CIS fuel injection system
1. Remove the radiator fan impeller and hydraulic clutch.
2. Remove the plastic cover from the front cover of the cylinder head.
3. Disconnect the central high-voltage wire from the ignition distributor cover.
4. Unscrew the bolts, remove and move the ignition distributor cover to the side without disconnecting the remaining high-voltage wires from it.
5. Unscrew screws and remove a rotor of the distributor of ignition.
6. Unscrew the central bolt and remove the distributor rotor drive from the end of the camshaft.
7. Remove the protective shield and gasket from the top drive chain cover.
8. Using a screwdriver blade, remove the old O-ring.
9. Alternatively, drill two small holes into the O-ring located at diametrically opposite ends of the O-ring. Insert two self-tapping screws into the drilled holes in the O-ring and use pliers to pull the O-ring out past the screw heads.
10. Clean the sealing ring seat.
11. In order to prevent damage to the working edges of the sealing ring during its installation, wrap the end of the camshaft with adhesive tape.
12. Using a tubular mandrel of the correct diameter, install a new O-ring.
13. Remove the adhesive tape from the end of the camshaft.
14. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
15. Front crankshaft seal.
16. Remove the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and hub.
17. Measure the installation depth of the O-ring.
18. Using a screwdriver blade, remove the O-ring.
19. Alternatively, drill two small holes into the O-ring at diametrically opposite ends of the seal. Insert two self-tapping screws into the drilled holes in the O-ring and use pliers to pull the O-ring out past the screw heads.
20. Clean the sealing ring seat.
21. In order not to damage the working edges of the sealing ring when installing it, wrap the front end of the crankshaft with adhesive tape.
22. Dip the new O-ring in clean engine oil and, using a suitable diameter tubular drift, install the new O-ring into the seat to the previously measured depth.
23. Remove the adhesive tape from the end of the crankshaft.
24. Install the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and hub.
Rear crankshaft sealing ring
1. Remove flywheel/drive plate.
2. Replace the rear crankshaft seal in the same manner as the front crankshaft seal. After removing the O-ring, check the surface of the crankshaft in contact with the O-ring, and if this surface of the crankshaft is worn, the crankshaft must be replaced.
3. Install flywheel/drive plate.
