Attention! To remove the rear hub bearing, use a hydraulic press and tubular mandrels of the appropriate diameter. In the absence of a press, you can use a large bench vise. The inner races of the bearing are pressed onto the hub sleeve. If the bearing inner race remains on the hub sleeve when the bearing is removed, a puller must be used to remove the bearing.
1. Remove the rear hub fastener.
2. Using appropriate drifts, install the hub fastener on the hydraulic press table and, being careful, press the hub out of the bearing. If the bearing inner race remains on the hub sleeve, remove it using a puller.
3. Remove the bearing circlip from the hub retainer.
4. Mount the hub carrier on the hydraulic press table and, using a suitable diameter tubular mandrel, press the bearing out of the hub carrier.
5. Clean the bearing seat in the hub retainer and use sandpaper to remove any burrs. Check the condition of the bearing circlip and replace if necessary.
6. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the outer race of the bearing.
7. Install the bearing on the hub fastener and, using a tubular mandrel resting on the outer ring of the bearing, press the bearing into the socket until it stops.
8. Secure the bearing with a circlip. At the same time, check that the retaining ring is clearly seated in the groove of the hub fastener.
9. Install the inner race of the bearing on a mandrel of the appropriate diameter and press the hub into the bearing.
10. Check for smooth rotation of the bearing, then install the rear hub fastener to the vehicle.
