1. On manual transmission models, look for scoring or discoloration caused by overheating on the friction contact surfaces of the flywheel. If they are, regrind the surfaces or replace the flywheel.
2. If the starter drive ring gear is worn, remove it with a drill or chisel, or knock it down with a hammer when heated quickly.
3. Heat the new ring gear to a light straw color (up to 220°C) and put it on the flywheel, making sure that the bevel on the teeth is located towards the engine.
