If there is no stand, then you can disassemble the engine by strengthening it on a solid workbench or on the floor. When disassembling without a stand, be very careful when handling the engine.
If the engine will be handed over for repair, then first you need to remove all the units in order to install them later in exactly the same order as with an independent overhaul. These units include:
- generator and brackets;
- systems for reducing the toxicity of exhaust gases;
- ignition distributor, spark plugs and high-voltage wires;
- thermostat with housing;
- water pump;
- carburetor;
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- oil filter;
- fuel pump;
- engine suspension parts;
- flywheel with clutch.
Attention! When removing attachments from the engine, pay special attention to those parts that may be needed when installing the engine or for auxiliary installation. Mark gaskets, seals, spacers, shafts, washers, nuts, etc. to reinstall them in their original position.
If an incomplete cylinder block is to be installed, i.e. a cylinder block with the crank mechanism and piston group installed, then the block head, oil pan and oil pump should also be removed. The list of parts to be removed is determined by the accepted repair option.
If it is planned to carry out a complete overhaul, then the engine must be completely disassembled and the engine parts removed in the following order:
- camshaft timing belt covers;
- toothed belt;
- cylinder head cover;
- front and back covers;
- cylinder head and camshaft;
- oil pan;
- oil pump;
- connecting rod and piston group;
- crankshaft.
Before disassembling and performing overhaul procedures, you will need the following tools and equipment:
- standard set of tools;
- small cash registers or plastic bags for storing parts;
- staple to remove the remnants of gaskets;
- reaming for countersinking;
- impact puller;
- micrometers;
- pointer indicator with mounting system;
- spring compression tool;
- cylinder honing tool;
- tool for cleaning the grooves of piston rings;
- electric drill;
- a set of taps and dies;
- wire brushes;
- solvent.
