Battery drains in a few days
- Internal battery fault (Chapter 5A).
- Loose or oxidized battery terminal clamps ("Weekly check").
- Worn or slipped alternator drive belt (Chapter 1).
- Low alternator charging current (Chapter 5A).
- Faulty alternator or voltage regulator (Chapter 5A).
- Short circuit causing battery drain (Chapters 5 and 12).
Low battery warning light stays on when engine is running
- Worn or slipped alternator drive belt (Chapter 1).
- Worn, sticky or dirty alternator brushes (Chapter 5A).
- Broken or weakened alternator brush springs (Chapter 5A).
- Internal fault in alternator or voltage regulator (Chapter 5A).
- Open, disconnected or loose contacts in the charging circuit (Chapter 5A).
Battery indicator light does not turn on
- Signal lamp burnt out ("Weekly check").
- Open, disconnected or loose contacts in the control lamp circuit (Chapter 12).
- Faulty generator (Chapter 5A).
Lighting fixtures not working
- Bulb burnt out (Chapter 12).
- Corrosion of light bulb socket contacts (Chapter 12).
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- turnip fault (Chapter 12).
- Open, disconnected or loose contact in the circuit (Chapter 12).
- Faulty switch (Chapter 12).
Instrument readings are inaccurate or erratic
Instrument readings increase with increasing engine speed
- Faulty voltage regulator (Chapter 12).
Fuel and temperature gauges do not work
- Faulty pointer sensor (Chapters 3 and 4).
- Open circuit wiring (Chapter 12).
- Faulty indicator (Chapter 12).
Fuel and temperature gauges constantly show maximum values
- Faulty pointer sensor (Chapters 3 and 4).
- Short circuit wiring (Chapter 12).
- Bad pointer (Chapter 12).
Sound signal does not work or works unsatisfactorily
Beep does not turn off
- Short circuit of the horn contacts or sticking of the horn button
- Shorting the contact of the horn button to the case (Chapter 12)
Sound signal does not work
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- Steering wheel wiring has an open or loose connection (Chapter 12).
- Faulty horn (Chapter 12).
The beep emits a pulsating (unstable) or unsatisfactory sound
- Poor contact of electrical wires (Chapter 12).
- Loose sound horn (Chapter 12).
- Faulty horn (Chapter 12)
Windshield wipers not working or not working properly
Windshield wipers not working or very slow
- Sticking wiper blades to glass or sticking linkage (Chapter 12).
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- Broken or disconnected wiring (Chapter 12).
- Faulty relay (Chapter 12).
- Faulty wiper motor (Chapter 12).
Wiper blades move over too large or too small an area of glass
- The wiper arms are incorrectly placed on the axles (Chapter 12).
- Excessive wiper linkage wear (Chapter 12).
- Loose wiper motor or linkage (Chapter 12).
Wiper blades are inefficient
- Worn or broken rubber wiper blades ("Weekly check").
- Wiper arm pressure springs broken or rocker arm pivots stuck (Chapter 12).
- Insufficient detergent content in the washer fluid for effective glass cleaning ("Weekly check").
Windshield washers do not work or work unsatisfactorily
One or more washer jets not working
- Hole contamination (Chapter 1).
- Disconnected or kinked hose (Chapter 12).
- Insufficient amount of fluid in the washer reservoir ("Weekly check").
Washer pump not working
- Pump wiring connection broken (Chapter 12).
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- Washer switch defective (Chapter 12).
- Washer pump defective (Chapter 12).
The washer pump runs for some time before the fluid begins to flow
- Defective pressure valve in the washer hose (Chapter 12).
The power window regulator does not work or does not work satisfactorily
Glass only moves in one direction
- Faulty switch (Chapter 12).
Glass is stirred slowly
- Damaged, sticking or lack of lubrication of the regulator (Chapter 11)
- Contamination of the regulator or internal components of the door (Chapter 11)
- Faulty engine (Chapter 11).
Glass won't move
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- Faulty relay (Chapter 12).
- Broken engine wiring (Chapter 12).
- Faulty engine (Chapter 11).
The central lock does not work or works unsatisfactorily
The system is completely inoperable
- Blown fuse (Chapter 12).
- Faulty relay (Chapter 12).
- Broken wiring (Chapter 12).
- Motor failure (Chapter 11).
Locks close but won't open or open but won't close
- Faulty main switch (Chapter 12).
- Broken or disconnected levers or linkages of the linkage of the locks (Chapter 11).
- Faulty relay (Chapter 12).
- Motor failure (Chapter 11).
The electromagnetic relay / motor of one of the locks does not work
- Broken wiring (Chapter 12).
- Faulty lock motor (Chapter 11).
- Broken or disconnected levers or linkages of the linkage of the lock (Chapter 11).
- Malfunction in the door lock (Chapter 11).
