Mercedes-Benz — German automaker of business class cars, trucks and buses. It is a division of the transnational automotive concern «Daimler AG». The headquarters is located in Stuttgart. The company's slogan is «the best or nothing».
The name first appeared in 1926 as «Daimler-Benz» from a merger between the two companies. The first of these is «Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft» (DMG), founded in 1890 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach and has been producing a Mercedes car since 1901. The second company «Benz & Cie» was founded in 1883 by Karl Benz with his world's first patented car «Benz Patent-Motorwagen» in 1896.
The German car designer Ferdinand Porsche was appointed the head of this established company. Under his leadership, a luxury car «Mercedes 24/100/140 PS» («Mercedes-Benz Typ 630» since 1928) was produced. However, two years later he was replaced by engineer and designer Hans Niebel. At this time, the Mannheim 370 (code W10) and Nürburg 460 (code W08) appeared. In 1930, the luxury car «Mercedes-Benz 770» (code W07), also known as the «Big Mercedes», appeared, which was produced until 1938. Used by heads of state, wealthy and influential people. Since 1938, it was modernized (code W150) and produced until 1943.
In 1931, «Daimler-Benz» made an attempt to fill the niche of cheaper and more compact cars by releasing the «Mercedes Typ 170» (code W15). The attempt turned out to be very successful, and this model is a distant ancestor of the modern «E-Class». Two years later, the «Mercedes-Benz Typ 200» (code W21) appeared, which is more prestigious than the W15. In 1935, the German engineer Max Seiler took over the management of the company. This year they released an inexpensive car «Mercedes-Benz 170 V» (code W136), which replaced the W15.
During World War II, they produced trucks and cars. The strategic bombing of Germany in 1944 destroyed 80% of the company's factories. Because of this, production continued only in June 1946. The main post-war car was the «Mercedes-Benz 170 V», which was the beginning of a new history of «Daimler-Benz».
Our site is dedicated to «Mercedes-Benz» cars. Great historical experience has shown the excellent reliability of these vehicles. But still they require maintenance, as well as repair and replacement of parts and assemblies. To do this, it is best to contact an authorized service.
This approach has pros and cons. The advantages are that you do not run the risk of breaking entire elements and parts during the replacement of a damaged one, it usually takes less time than with self-repair, and services also provide a guarantee for their work. The disadvantages in this case are also quite significant. Firstly, not all cities have authorized services, and secondly, the price for these services and spare parts is quite high, since «Mercedes-Benz» cars belong to the executive class and are very expensive.
If you choose to do the repair and maintenance yourself, then you will need a convenient place for this (your own garage) and a set of tools. You can also use the services of car repair shops, where you can rent a place and use the tool for a small fee. You will also need instructions and manuals for repair and maintenance procedures.
